My Personal Story
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, my connection to nature was fostered from a young age. During walks through the neighborhood, my parents encouraged my sister and I to hug trees and stop to hear nature’s messages. This introduced me to an understanding I hold now, that we are all connected, we are all one. I have been fortunate enough to spend time traveling around Canada, the United States and other parts of the world, which opened my eyes to the beauty and diversity of people and nature. I have always appreciated the magnificence, calmness, wisdom and strength that nature provides, and I truly believe that a connection with nature is crucial to health and happiness.
Having been raised with a doctor in the family, I was privy to the successes of conventional medicine, but also its limitations and frustrations. In my opinion, there was not enough HEALTH in healthcare. I believe that true healing comes from within and that there is more to health than the absence of disease, ideas which were not congruent with the conventional medical paradigm.
Naturopathic medicine offered me the opportunity to learn about medicine and pathology, but went further to instill the knowledge and wisdom of centuries of healers before me. It presented a system of care that focuses on treating the cause of illness and truly promoting health and healthy living. The gentle, yet powerful, therapies focus on stimulating the body’s innate ability to heal, without unwanted side effects. Lastly, naturopathic medicine fostered the understanding that we are more than a physical body with parts that can be removed when they are not working. We are intricate beings, whose overall wellness is dependent on a healthy body, a sharp mind and a vibrant spirit.
I believe that real health is more than a state free of disease and pain. It is the balance of the physical, emotional and spiritual realms, allowing us to lead happy, purposeful lives. It is my privilege to help you achieve your health goals and assist you on your journey to optimal wellness.
